The International Police Association is an independent body made up of members of the police service, whether on active duty or retired, and without distinction as to rank, sex, race, colour, language or religion.  Its purpose is to create bonds of friendship and to promote international co-operation.
It is committed to the principles set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as adopted by the United Nations in 1948.  Its aims include the development of cultural relations amongst its members, a broadening of their general knowledge, and an exchange of professional experience;  in addition, it seeks to foster mutual help in the social sphere and to contribute, within the limits of its possibilities, to peaceful co-existence between peoples and to the preservation of world peace.
Membership of the International Police Association is open to serving and retired policemen and women of all ages.  Each member country (IPA Section) is permitted to apply its own criteria for membership as to who can or cannot be regarded as a police officer for the purpose of membership.  Each Section also determines its own membership fees.

Passing away of the Secretary General of Romania, Dated 14-04-2012
The Romanian Section of International Police Association, announces with deep grief, the death of the Mr. Ph. D. IULIAN MEDREA, SECRETARY GENERAL, founder of our SECTION. He died after 22.00 PM on Tuesday, 10 April, only three weeks after being diagnosed with a terminal illness. He was 76 years old. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family, especially son Flavius and to his wife. Good people do not „never die”! They just removes a little and they watch our fates from top to the sky. We never build enough into a friendship and suddenly everything is crumbles and just only memories remain.

Have rest in PEACE, ROMANIAN SOUL!

Appreciation and endless respect for the initiator of this wonderful IPA journey concept, Mr. Rudolf Skjødt - Police Inspector

Danish IPA visit to Belfast

On Tuesday 17th  August 2010, Dianne Crockard of  IPA Belfast hosted 33 Danish visitors to the city as an extension of their visit to IPA Section Ireland. The group, arranged by Rudolf Skjødt, Inspector in Copenhagen,  included officers from the Headquarters, Traffic, Serious Economic Crime, the Bomb Squad , Drugs & Dog Section and a very good friend of group Dan Rusu, IPA representative from Romania..

The group was first hosted at Castlereagh  Station where, thanks to Traffic officers, David McCausland and Andy Coates, they inspected a variety of traffic vehicles including the new Mitsubishi EVO which is used to engage with young car enthusiasts in an educational role, highlighting the number of deaths and serious injuries within this group.

The group moved on to PSNI Headquarters and spent time visiting the Police Museum and the Memorial Garden. They were struck by the ethos and layout of the garden and thanks must go to  Denise Limmer and the Memorial Garden tour guide, Marion Starret.

Lunch for the group was arranged in the pleasant surroundings of Newforge Police Country Club, and they then took the opportunity to visit Belfast city centre, including the Crown Liquor Saloon. A small group had the opportunity to tour the fortified Grosvenor Road Station, thanks to Response Officer, Gill Whitla. A visit to the peace walls completed the short but full visit to Belfast.
